Hajj

Every year, Muslims from all over the world make the pilgrimage to Mecca to perform the Hajj. The Hajj is a religious duty that must be performed at least once in a lifetime by every able-bodied Muslim who can afford to make the journey.

Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam. He who can afford to perform it must perform it at least once in his lifetime.

The Hajj is a physically and emotionally demanding experience, but it is also a deeply meaningful one. For many Muslims, the Hajj is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to deepen their faith and connect with other Muslims from around the world. The Hajj begins on the 8th of Dhu al-Hijjah, the final month of the Islamic calendar.

Pilgrims perform a series of rituals over the course of five days, including circumambulating the Kaaba, throwing stones at the Devil, and drinking from the Zamzam well. On the final day of the Hajj , pilgrims make their way to Mount Arafat, where they spend the day in prayer and reflection.

This is followed by the feast of Eid al-Adha, when pilgrims sacrifice an animal in remembrance of Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son. The Hajj is a demanding experience, but it is also a deeply rewarding one.

When is Hajj?

Hajj begins on the eighth day of the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah. Each year, the day of Hajj changes because the Islamic calendar, like the Gregorian calendar, is based on the lunar cycle.

The ninth month of the year is Shawwal, and Eid al-Adha is celebrated during this month. The first day of Muharram is the first day of the Islamic new year, and the first 10 days of Muharram are a time of mourning for the Prophet Muhammad’s death.

How to Perform Hajj

If you are performing Hajj, you’ll need to be sure that you have all the necessary documents before you leave for Saudi Arabia.

Most countries will require a valid passport and a Visa to enter Saudi Arabia.
You also need to make sure that you have a valid vaccination card for yellow fever or any other vaccines that are required for entry. And if you’re travelling with children, make sure that they have their own valid passports.

Once you arrive at the airport in Saudi Arabia, you’ll have to go through immigration procedures. Make sure that you have a printed copy of your visa and that your name and photo on the visa match the name and photo on your passport. If you are travelling with children, make sure that they are listed on your visa so that they can pass through immigration with you.

Good to Know about Hajj

The Hajj is meant to be an opportunity for Muslims to let go of the things that keep them from God and be purified.

The Hajj is a special pilgrimage that all Muslims should make at some point in their lives. It is not only a chance to re-embrace your faith, but it is also an opportunity to meet new people and learn from a diverse community.

The ritual reenacts the journey of Prophet Abraham and his family as they make the long trek to the Kaaba in Mecca, where they were instructed by God to build a shrine.
